Despite our best efforts, we cannot fully predict indicators of IPV in Asia without a shadow of a doubt. The issue of IPV is a tangle of multiple cultural, legal, and economic issues in one. However, we believe that we have made headway into bringing awareness to some more disconcerting and unseen facets of the lives of Asian women across many years and regions, especially in relation to their male counterparts. Ultimately, our project aimed to contextualize IPV as an effect of gender inequality. We believe that steps taken to increase gender equality may significantly reduce rates of IPV. Regarding social norms, campaigns (in-person and online) describing the harrowing effects of male favoritism on women and the greater community could encourage equality. Regarding education and employment, a focus on both spouses achieving higher education and non-menial jobs could encourage equality. Laws ensuring legal protections based on sex are more likely to appear if women have more money and more education because that would increase women’s agency and social understanding. More agency and understanding could make them more likely to vote and run for office, therefore directly influencing their laws. There is potential for a safer world for Asian women.
